The Haitian Help Program Inc. will operate as a nonprofit agency based in the United States. It will raise funds through donations and through sustainable revenue producing programs. Donations will be generated from those who share the vision of helping Haiti and its residents. In addition to providing opportunities for people to donate, several fundraisers will be held each year to help raise awareness and generate revenue. In addition, applicable grants will be sought.
The sustainable revenue producing programs will include three components: transportation, agriculture, and housing.
This diagram illustrates the diversified approach of the Haitian Help Program Inc. and its key objectives and strategies. Specifically:
Overall Objectives
Overall Strategies
Geographic Strategies
The Haitian Help Program Inc. will operate in all regions of Haiti. Initial projects will be implemented outside of Port Au Prince near the City of Petit Goave. The intent is to create programs that can be replicated around the country. Geographic expansion will be strategically determined by the degree to which the HHP has critical mass and/or the synergy needed to be successful in the additional region.
Agricultural Strategies
The agricultural strategy includes both a crop production component and an egg production component. Each will be used to generate revenue and create employment opportunities. The land, already owned by the founder of the Haitian Help Program Inc., approximately 1000 acres, will be used to raise production to levels required for local distribution and export. The crops currently in production include, but are not limited to, mangoes, avocados, coconuts, pigeon peas, lemons and limes.
The egg production component will supply the high demand for eggs in Haiti. The farm will be designed to utilize state-of-the-art technology in order to maximize production, enhance the ability to treat the chickens humanely, and adhere to strict food safety criteria. The eggs will be sold domestically to supply the growing demand for eggs in Haiti.
Housing Strategies
The housing component will be used initially to provide affordable housing for displaced residents and jobs in the construction and maintenance of those homes. The housing is designed to be ecologically and environmentally responsible, i.e., utilizing alternative energy sources such as solar and wind. In addition, housing will be engineered to sustain hurricane and earthquake conditions. Revenues will be generated from the sale or rental of these properties.
Transportation Strategies
The transportation component of the Haitian Help Program Inc. will focus on acquiring vehicles for transportation between Port Au Prince and nearby cities. The revenue generated from this component will come from fares paid by those in need of transportation and will create opportunities for employment. The revenue will be used for funding to maintain the vehicles and for the sustainable benefit programs.
